Evga Precision 2.0 2
I have a 295 GTX and I have an issue with software fan control. I created a fan response graph. Everything works fine for some time (length of time unknown).
At some point the fan stops turning, the software shows the fan running near 100% because both GPU's are hot (because the fan's not spinning). If I manually lower the fan to the minimum (30%), the fan comes back on at 30%.
IF I raise the fan slider, the fan speed drops, if I raise it to 100% it stops completely. The fan speed is affected even if I stop Precision. I have to reboot for it to operate correctly, but again after some unspecified time, it will malfunction again. So to paraphrase it seems to invert and compress the fan response. I don't use any other utilities other than Precision, I do however use Everest. Everything I see in Everest is reflected in Precision with regards to my graphics card.I am running Windows 7 Pro 64bit. Some things you might concider Did you have this issue with an earlier release of Precision? Maybe the driver has become corrupted and reinstalling might fix the problem.
Do you run Everest at the same time as Precision? I never heard of this kind of problem before, but there was a driver release awhile back that did cause problems with fan speed control, but that was with one of the newer released cards, I believe it was the 480. It's some kind of a software issue, or maybe the fan control on the card itself is starting to wear out. I'd give customer service a call, and worst case would be to have to RMA the card. Looks as if 2.0.2 was the problem. I tried re-installing it with the same result.
Then I installed 2.0.0 and that seems to have fixed it. For whatever reason something in 2.0.2 was inverting the fan control.
I don't know if it was a conflict with some other software, but it only seems to affect 2.0.2 since I've pretty much used every version of Precision since January 2009 and not seen this problem before. One aside to this, it would be nice if EVGA would maintain links to a Precision archive, so users don't have to go to other sites (such as Guru3D) to get past versions. Problem below fixed. Rebooting the computer fixed Precision, it works now.Precision v2.0.2 is apparently broken for nVidia driver v270.61 released today. Running on Win 7 Pro x64 with GTX275.It is not working correctly in Win 7 x64, might be an x64 driver issue. Some problems:1. No profiles, not able to save any profile.2. Fan speed displays as 0! The fan is running, probably on the default 'Auto' profile.3.
Cannot change the fan speed. Precision just does nothing, related to inability to save a profile.4.

GPU percent use reported as 4Gb (not possible). There are probably other things not working, I mostly just care about the fan speed control.
